What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, and which the browser sends back on your next visit. Websites use them to remember things between page loads — what is in your basket, which language you chose, whether you have answered a consent question.
The same rules apply to other ways of storing data in your browser. One of the three items below is not a cookie but "local storage" — a different mechanism with the same effect, and we treat it the same way.
For everything else we do with personal data — orders, enquiries, the newsletter, who receives your data — see our Privacy Policy.
What we place on your device
Three items are ours. The Cloudflare line belongs to the security check on our forms. The lines from Google and Meta appear only after you accept the analytics or advertising category in the banner.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| adrplus_cart | Cookie | Remembers which products you put in your basket, as a list of product codes and quantities. It holds no prices and no personal details. Deleted when your order is confirmed. | 30 days, renewed each time you change the basket | ADRplus — first party |
| adrplus_consent | Cookie | Records the cookie choice you made in the banner, and when you made it, so we stop asking and so we know whether analytics is allowed. | 1 year, after which we ask again | ADRplus — first party |
| adrplus_lead_id | Local storage | A random identifier that lets our own visit measurement recognise a returning browser. It is created only after you accept analytics. It contains no name, email address or anything else about you. | No fixed expiry. It is deleted the moment you decline or withdraw analytics consent, and you can clear it yourself in your browser | ADRplus — first party |
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Technical item of the security check | Strictly necessary. The security check that protects our order and enquiry forms from automated abuse may store a technical item of its own while it runs. It is not used to recognise you and holds nothing about you. | For the duration of the check | Cloudflare — third party |
| _ga | Cookie | Google Analytics 4. Tells apart browsers in our visit statistics with a random identifier. Set only after you accept analytics. | 2 years | Google — third party |
| _ga_N5GBNCX58S | Cookie | Google Analytics 4. Keeps the state of your current visit, such as when it started and how many pages you have opened. Set only after you accept analytics. | 2 years | Google — third party |
| _gcl_au | Cookie | Google Ads. Records that you arrived through one of our advertisements, so that we can measure which advertisements lead to enquiries and orders. Set only after you accept advertising. | 3 months | Google — third party |
| _fbp | Cookie | Meta pixel. A random identifier that lets Meta recognise your browser on our site, so that we can measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Set only after you accept advertising. | 3 months | Meta — third party |
| _fbc | Cookie | Meta pixel. Stores the identifier of the Facebook or Instagram advertisement you clicked to reach us. Set only after you accept advertising and only if you arrived from such an advertisement. | 3 months | Meta — third party |
That is the complete list. Until you choose in the banner, nothing beyond the first two lines and the Cloudflare check can appear on your device.
The categories in the banner
Strictly necessary. The basket cookie and the consent cookie. The basket cookie is needed for a shop function you asked for. The consent cookie is what stores your answer. These cannot be switched off, and under the law they do not need your consent.
Analytics. Off unless you turn it on. It controls three things — the adrplus_lead_id identifier for our own statistics, the Cloudflare visit count and Google Analytics 4 with its _ga cookies. If you decline or later withdraw, the identifier and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted from your browser and nothing further is sent.
Advertising. Off unless you turn it on. It controls Google Ads conversion measurement and the Meta pixel with the _gcl_au, _fbp and _fbc cookies. They show us which advertisements lead to enquiries and orders and let us show our advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited our site. If you decline or later withdraw, those cookies are deleted from your browser and nothing further is sent.
Consent to store information on your device, or to gain access to information already stored there, is required by Section 7.¹ of the Latvian Law on Information Society Services (Informācijas sabiedrības pakalpojumu likums), which transposes Article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC. Strictly necessary items are exempt under paragraph 2 of the same section.
Third parties
The three items marked ADRplus are the only ones we place ourselves. The outside services below read or receive data from your browser, and some of them set the cookies listed in the table.
Stripe — Stripe Payments Europe, Limited (Ireland) and Stripe, LLC (United States). When you pay, you leave adr.plus and go to Stripe's own payment page. Stripe sets its own cookies there, on its own domain, under its own policy. Stripe.com/privacy. We cannot control or switch those off from our site.
Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — our order and enquiry forms run a security check, Cloudflare Turnstile, so that automated scripts cannot abuse them. The check loads from Cloudflare, receives your IP address and may store a technical item of its own on your device while it runs. If you accept analytics cookies, Cloudflare also measures visits for us. That script receives your IP address and the page you have open, and stores no identifier on your device.
Google — Google Ireland Limited (Ireland) and Google LLC (United States). When you type an address into a delivery, invoice or subscription form, our server, not your browser, sends what you have typed to the Google Places interface to suggest matching addresses, and Google places nothing on your device through this. The Google Tag Manager script loads on every page and manages the two tools below. Until you choose in the banner it sets nothing on your device, but Google receives your IP address and the page address. Google Analytics 4 runs only if you accept analytics and sets the _ga cookies. Google Ads conversion measurement runs only if you accept advertising and sets the _gcl_au cookie. Both receive your IP address, the pages you open and actions such as sending a form or completing an order. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Meta — Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (Ireland) and Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States). The Meta pixel runs only if you accept advertising. It sets the _fbp and _fbc cookies and sends Meta your IP address, browser information, the pages you open and actions such as sending a form or completing an order, so that we can measure our advertising on Facebook and Instagram and show it to people who have visited our site. Meta also uses the data for its own purposes under its own policy. Meta Platforms, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
OpenFreeMap — supplies the map images on our tunnel map page from tiles.openfreemap.org. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. But your browser has to contact it directly to fetch the map, which means it sees your IP address, your browser information and which part of the map you are viewing. This happens as soon as the tunnel map page loads. If you would rather it did not, do not open that page.
We use no social media buttons that track you and no consent management platform belonging to a third party. Apart from loading the Tag Manager script described above, nothing from Google or Meta runs before you choose in the banner.
Data sent outside the EU
None of our own three items send anything anywhere — they sit in your browser and are read by our site.
Stripe's cookies on Stripe's payment page are governed by Stripe's policy. Our contracting party is in Ireland. Stripe, LLC in the United States is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as providing adequate protection.
The Google and Meta cookies work only within the categories you accept. Our contracting parties are Google Ireland Limited and Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, both in Ireland. The data can also be processed by Google LLC and Meta Platforms, Inc. in the United States, both certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
For the map service, we do not control where the servers delivering the map images are located.
How to accept or refuse
When you first visit, a banner asks you to choose. "Accept" and "Decline" are shown together on the first screen, one above the other, in the same size and weight — refusing takes exactly one click, the same as accepting. You can also open the settings and switch categories on individually.
Until you choose, nothing but the strictly necessary items is placed on your device. We do not treat scrolling, continued browsing or closing the banner as consent.
If you decline, the site works exactly as before — you simply get none of the analytics or advertising items, and we do not ask you again until your choice expires.
How to change or withdraw your choice
Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It reopens the same panel with your current choices, and you can change them at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and takes effect immediately — the analytics identifier and the Google and Meta cookies of the categories you switched off are deleted from your browser as soon as you save.
You can also delete cookies and local storage yourself through your browser settings, under privacy or site data. Doing so removes our consent cookie too, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Profiling
We do not profile you ourselves. If you accept advertising cookies, Google and Meta may include your browser in an audience of people who have visited our site, so that our advertising can be shown to that audience on their platforms. You can withdraw this at any time in the cookie settings.
The adrplus_lead_id identifier is used only to tell repeat visits apart in our own statistics. We do not combine it with your name, your email address or your orders, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to advertising networks.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove or change what we place on your device, we update this table first and ask for your consent again where consent is required. The current version date is shown at the top of this page.
