ADR annual report

ADR 1.8.3.3 names it directly — the safety adviser prepares an annual report on the dangerous goods activities of the undertaking. It is kept for five years and shown to the authorities on request. With us the report is not a December scramble — it is built from records kept all year.

Who must have it

Every undertaking obliged to appoint a safety adviser — carriers, consignors, loaders, packers — gets this duty together with the adviser. The report is written for the management, stored for five years and produced when the national authority asks.

What the report contains

ADR requires the report but prescribes no template. Below is the structure we use in practice.

Goods and volumes

Which dangerous goods the company moved during the year — classes, UN numbers, quantities and directions.

People and training

Chapter 1.3 training records — who was trained, when and under which programme, refreshers included.

Incidents and lessons

Accidents and incidents of the year, each with the cause established and the measures taken against repetition.

Procedures and findings

The state of the procedures the consultant monitors under 1.8.3.3, and what the company improves next year.

How we prepare it

  1. 01

    Records all year

Consignments are logged on the ADRplus platform as they happen — nothing is reconstructed from memory.

  2. 02

    The consultant writes

The year is summarised into the report — goods, people, incidents, procedures, recommendations.

  3. 03

    Handover and archive

Discussed with the management, signed, archived for the five statutory years — ready for any request.

Pricing

For subscribers the annual report simply arrives. For everyone else there is a clear one-off price.

Is the annual report really mandatory?

Yes. Preparing an annual report on the dangerous goods activities is one of the safety adviser functions listed in ADR 1.8.3.3 — for every undertaking obliged to appoint one.

How long is it kept and who may ask for it?

Five years, by the wording of 1.8.3.3 — and it is made available to the national authorities at their request.

We had no consultant all year — what now?

Appoint one and close the gap. We take up the adviser duties, reconstruct the year from your documents and prepare the report — the sooner it is done, the smaller the exposure at the next check.

Why is it easier with the platform?

Because the report is a summary of records. On the ADRplus platform every consignment is logged when it happens, so the annual report is built from live data — not from December archaeology.
