Arlberg Road Tunnel

What this restriction means
This tunnel has no ADR category. The country has not assigned one — dangerous-goods traffic is governed by a national restriction regime instead.
A national restriction regime applies here. Its scope, hours and conditions follow the national decision, not the A–E scale of ADR 1.9.5, so no category letter can be quoted for this tunnel. Please check the source below before planning a route.
BMIMI 'Tunnelbeschränkungen' / RIS — Verordnung BGBl. II Nr. 395/2001 (§ 43 Abs. 2 lit. a StVO 1960), consolidated; Karawanken: BGBl. III Nr. 59/2003

The restrictions cover dangerous-goods traffic to the extent and at the times set out in the national document. What may pass, and when, follows from that document, not from an ADR category — see the source below.
Restrictions & provenance
No ADR tunnel category (1.9.5) is assigned. Austria does not apply the A–E system and runs a national regime under BGBl. II Nr. 395/2001 (StVO § 43). In this tunnel (national class B, 5 000 m and longer) the amber warning lamp (ECE R65) must be on from 200 m before the portal and throughout the tunnel, a distance of at least 100 m to the vehicle ahead is required, and an escort vehicle is required for goods whose hazard identification number begins with 2 or X or is a doubled 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 (for example 33, 44, 66, 88). Carriage within 1.1.3.6 is exempt.
