National ADR application
Denmark is a formal ADR contracting party since 1981. The lead national authority for dangerous goods (ADR) matters is Færdselsstyrelsen. A DGSA must be appointed under ADR 1.8.3.

Færdselsstyrelsen — Danish Road Traffic Authority
Competent authority for ADR road dangerous goods transport (rule-issuing authority, DGSA registration, multilateral agreements, dispensations). Took over primary ADR road authority role as of BEK 915 of 26 June 2025 (in force 1 July 2025).

Beredskabsstyrelsen — Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA)
Operational support authority for ADR road transport: advises Færdselsstyrelsen, handles daily case processing, approves non-pressure tanks, administers driver training/exams, participates in international ADR revision (UN/UNECE), conducts DGSA exam jointly with Trafikstyrelsen. Also appeal instance for certain decisions.

Rigspolitiet – Tungvognscentre (Danish National Police Heavy Vehicle Centres) — Danish National Police – Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Centres
Roadside enforcement authority for ADR road dangerous goods transport. Police may stop vehicles, inspect against the ADR checklist (Annex 4 to BEK 915/2025), immobilise non-compliant vehicles, and issue on-the-spot fines. Five regional Tungvognscentre operate across Denmark (e.g. Tungvognscenter Syd near Kolding).
Trafikstyrelsen — Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority
Co-administers the DGSA (sikkerhedsrådgiver) exam for rail and aviation dangerous goods. NOT the competent authority for ADR road transport (that is Færdselsstyrelsen/Beredskabsstyrelsen). Responsible for RID (rail) dangerous goods.

ADR driver certificate — authenticity check
Countries increasingly check foreign drivers’ ADR certificates against forgeries. Genuine certificate models of every contracting party are published in the official UNECE register — compare the layout, security features and issuing authority.

DGSA exam
Beredskabsstyrelsen (Danish Emergency Management Agency), in collaboration with Trafikstyrelsen. Exam registered via brs.plan2learn.dk. Exam held multiple times per year in Kolding. Fee approx. DKK 4,200.
